Produced by GLOBE VIDEO FILMS and released November 1999.
This is the third in a series of programmes dedicated to the class 37s and won accolades from the railway press before going out on general release.
To add to the magnificent sound effects which are a feature of this series of programmes 'Eclipse' includes the sight and sound of no less than 100 different locomotives in action in two different countries-that's right-this video is the first to include action from southern France where the class 37s are assisting with construction duties connected with the new high-speed TGV Link.
Added to this the class is seen hard at work in the UK from Penzance to Inverness and from Lowestoft to Aberystwyth and most places in between.
A comparison of modern and historical liveries are seen to good effect as we see many members of the class which have now succumbed to withdrawal.
Full train details appear as captions and narrative has been deliberately omitted so that the truly distinctive sound of these locomotives is not compromised.
Running time 62 mins approx
"Plenty of atmospheric shots - glorious sound" - TRACTION
"A classic reminder to be watched over and over again - This has to be one of the best modern traction programmes to date" - RAIL EXPRESS
